BPlus’ Plattchen: Twist ‘N’ Paint is apparently set to hit the US WiiWare service in a couple of weeks’ time.

For those with short memories, the game was the first title announced for WiiWare last year, which garnered its makers some attention, even though very little was known about the game (indeed, I’m still none the wiser as to how it all works).

Anyhow, according to this N-Europe piece, it’s almost here, but it’ll cost a whopping 1500 points. Which is the same price as Square-Enix’s majestic Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King, so it’d better be good.

I’ll likely be downloading this unless I receive strong negative impressions beforehand, so keep an eye on this very site for my considered opinion soon(ish).

Activision’s been showing off today about the successful (to say the least) launch of Guitar Hero: On Tour. It’s been on sale in the US for about ten days now, and the first week’s sales have been revealed - the game has sold over 300,000 copies. Incredible. Particularly as it’s more expensive than your average DS title at $49.99 (the same as the solus version of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith on Wii, price fans).

This makes GH: On Tour the biggest DS launch in North America for Activision by a long, long way. In fact, it’s outsold the second-biggest handheld seller from the company by a factor of eight. It’s also one of Activision’s five biggest sellers EVER, which is probably a better stat than the last one.

Guitar Hero: On Tour is released in the UK two weeks tomorrow, and is quite good, even if it doesn’t really feel like Guitar Hero.

We all know what the girls are thinking anyways when they get all googily-faced over guitarists, even fake guitarists. Might as well stop faking the funk and try to teach them boys something useful. So sit back and indulge, as we transport you to an alternate reality where a publisher by the name of “Arctivision” gives birth to “Vagina Hero”.

At first glance, Vagina Hero may seem overly complicated. Welcome to real life. The in-game screen above actually shows finger cues for the easy difficulty setting. Arctivision reps claim that expert difficulty is pretty much impossible unless you invest in the Pro Bundle.

For those who have been keeping up with Sadness, it’s been a very dry season for information. Most of what all of us have come to find out about the game has been through an obscure trailer that feels like it has been out for years (in actuality it is alittle more than a year old). The game is being developed by a Poland based developer, Nibris. This will be a debut title for them, so it makes it harder to decide if we should be excited or skeptical. Going by the screens and lone trailer, I gotta say I’m excited.
Even Without Seeing A Hot Lady Playing The Wii I’d Be Pretty Excited About Sadness

Since the trailer we haven’t been provided with very many details. The greatest amount of information we’ve received is the synopsis of the game which is on Nibris’ site, “The study of fear and the borders of human imagination… A trip to the darkest corners of consciousness, in all of us… A trip to the hell of the subconscious and not necessarily to return…This gothic horror (atmosphere) is not the game of the action. If you’re counting on shooting, litres of blood and piles of dead bodies then unfortunately you won’t find this here. We are preparing for a mood which will not leave you till the very end of the game. An irregular scenario decides on such issues as schizophrenia or narcolepsy. Apart from an extremely complex and rich-in-the-shocking-factor scenario, the power of our production is innovative use of the Wii controller.Sadness is black and white psychological horror game in which you control Maria - Victorian age aristocrat trying to protect her 8 year old, blind son from monsters trying to get him. Action is set on the verge of XIX and XX century, in ruins in woods of Russian Empire. Entire game focus on psychological aspects of fear and player interactions with Alexander.”

Besides some of the grammatical errors (we aren’t all perfect), this game has almost everything I look for in a game. It has the potential to make me shriek like a little girl, and make me feel unsettled to the point I have nightmares.

We finally have some more news to go along with the trailer and synopsis now. The game has been given a launch window of Fall 2009. This seems kind of a long time to me, considering the trailer was released more than a year ago, meaning Sadness was pretty far into development prior to the trailer. But aslong as the game is polished to a shine on release, I’m willing to be patient. Nibris will be attending the Leipzig Game Convention in August, so all signs point to more game details being released then.

Has anyone else been keeping up with the miniscule details for Sadness? Are you ready to scream like a little girl when the rats come darting at you in the sewer?

Capcom has provided the Wii with ongoing, strong support and seems interested in continuing their pattern. Spyborgs is one of the latest titles that have been revealed by the company. The game did not receive a terribly warm reaction from the hardcore Wii crowd, though numerous Capcom representatives have expressed feelings of faith in the game. Based on recent words, Wii owners should begin to believe in Spyborgs too, as Spyborgs, according to Capcom’s Christian Svensson, will max out the Wii and will make the most out of the Wii’s power. Svensson explained,”Spyborgs will be that product. Wait and see.” Also, on a slightly different note, Svensson gave the unfortunate news that Spyborgs won’t have much of a presence at E3. “Captivate was the announcement with very little detail shared… it’ll lie low for a bit until we’re ready for a bigger reveal (similar to what we did with the Dark Void announcement last October with the bigger reveal at Captivate), so no E3 showing.”

If American Football games aren’t your cup of tea, then maybe it’s the latest edition of NASCAR. Often that results in a disinterested grudge from us Brits. The last US-sport game I played was Madden on the Mega Drive. It kept me interested, but purely because pocket money was short and review samples a distant dream. With a copy of NASCAR 09 to review, tentative steps were taken. Those apprehensions were not unfounded.”

Offical Nintendo Magazine writes: “Masahiro Sakurai, the developer of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, has admitted to ONM that he had to cut out a lot of characters from Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

In an interview that features in the new issue of Official Nintendo Magazine (out on Friday), Sakurai said “It’s taken over three years to make Brawl but I actually stopped trying to include new ideas early on in development.

“What happened in the next year and a half was that we distilled the game down, worked out which ideas we had time to include and which we didn’t. Sadly, we had to trim out many great concepts just to keep within the time contraints. I had a lot more characters, for example.. but sadly I can’t discuss which ones didn’t make it.’”

“Sometimes the game industry seems so submerged in established franchises and straight-off-the-conveyor-belt sequels it seems impossible that any new IP has a chance of being noticed. But for every twenty Christmas cash cows that infest store shelves with their mediocrity, there is that one sequel we deeply yearn for – that great game that demands another shot at the big time but is bewilderingly ignored. Maybe it has merely become lost in the forgotten back catalogue of a now defunct publisher or perhaps it has been buried beneath the egotistical loggerheads of past-it developers, given up on and stuck in developmental hell. Unable to find the light as fans yell from their couches… encore! Encore! Encore!”
